In this article, we will explore the common combinations of mechanical seals used in water pumps. These seals are crucial for maintaining the efficiency and reliability of water pump operations. By understanding the different types and configurations of mechanical seals, you will gain valuable insights into their importance and functionality. So, let's delve into the world of water pump sealing and discover the commonly used combinations in this essential component.
1.Oil Seal
Suitable for SMALLER pumps mainly below 250W.
When the motor power is small, the starting torque is small. Apply double oil seal will help the pump start fastly. Besides, double oil seal has good sand prevention effect.
2.Mechanical Seal
Suitable for general water pumps.
Mechanical seal consists of mainly two parts. One is stationary part and the other rotates against it to achieve the sealing result. There are many types of mechanical seal, ranging from simple single spring designs to considerably more complex cartridge seal types.
The design, arrangement and materials of construction are essentially determined by the pressure, temperature, speed of rotation and liquid being sealed.
3. Types of M.Seals On Domestic Pumps
1) Graphite Vs. Ceramic
It's the standard type and normal quality.
Commonly-used for most of the water pumps.
2) Graphite Vs. Silicon Carbide
Generally, the optimal type for mechanical seals is graphite vs. silicon carbide - one soft and one hard. This type is suitable for most operating environments, except those containing solid particles in the pumping liquid.
3) Ceramic Vs. Silicon Carbide
Upgraded version of graphite vs. silicon carbide.
It is suitable for liquid containing particles, with a very low coefficient of friction.
4) Silicon Carbide Vs. Silicon Carbide
Best type, with high hardness and good wear resistance. When there are particles or particle media presence, it is better to choose a hard vs. hard materials. Note that once same materials are applied in both static and dynamic ring, different grades of materials should be selected.
